Cults

Information about various cults which are active and affecting people around us every day. Entries may start off with a little detail, but will probably grow as time goes by.

The aim is to give a heads up to people getting involved with organisations without realizing the implications, or that they are not compatible with Christian living. Also to suggest the dangers that people are exposed to by participation in false religions, and what the bible calls, "Things taught by demons." (I don't have time now for a more detailed explanation of what that means, but maybe in days to come....)

Freemasonry

Freemasonry is pagan Lucifer worship. At various key levels through the degrees, or 'lodges' the follower is given some new information which is only available at that level. They will be told that the previous information they have been given is only for the lower levels. Rooted in Egyptian nature worship and fertility rites, Freemasonry is closely aligned with Wicca/Witchcraft. The initiation into the cult of Freemasonry is very similar to initiation into Wicca.

Shriners are 33rd degree masons. Most Masons do not progress past the third or 'blue' lodge. Teaching throughout is not compatible with Christian faith and doctrine. This I know: Freemasons are neither Masons nor free.

Have a look at the notes in my blog on whether Freemasonry is a religion (clue: It is.....)

Landmark

Landmark or The Landmark Seminar is a popular program presenting as a personal or professional development course. Originally known as EST and started by Werner Erhardt, this series of beliefs was espoused after Erhardt was thrown out of the "Church" of Scientology and has traits of that cult's practice of Dyanetics.

The practices of the leaders of the seminar follow a recurring pattern: During the sessions there is a deconstruction and reconstruction process. The attendee is broken down using tactics that have been in place since a relative of mine attended EST and was really messed up by it. Do not let the individual leave the room. Talk at them for long periods of time with no break. Repeat the same ideas over and over. Get participants to reveal deep personal secrets from their lives. Help them to find "acceptance". Teach them that their future is created by the power of their own minds, and can be what they choose to make it. Above all, get them to come back and pay for more seminars, and recruit more people to come.

More information. The following links to external sites will open in a new window. We are not responsible for the content on these sites. The links will provide you with extensive information concerning the dangerous and ungodly practices and doctrines used by EST/Landmark/The Forum. Mormons

Mormons - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

After Joseph Smith got kicked out of the Masons he started the religion commonly known as Mormonism. Many of the rites in this cult are the same as those of Freemasonry.

Mormons are not Christians, and don't believe the same things that Christians believe, although on the surface you may think they look the same. Their beliefs concerning Jesus, Satan and the afterlife are totally different from Christian doctrine. In the past they have, controversially, espoused and practised polygamy - men marrying many wives. Under the doctrine of LDS this supposedly brought greater spiritual blessing in the life to come, where each qualifying believer would become god on their own planet. The practice of polygamy has dissipated. Many off-shoots of LDS still adhere to the teaching and practice, but the main group no longer teaches, at least publicly, that polygamy is required or should be practiced.
